A friend of mine described disability as our world and their world. Many times I just want to stay in my world because it is so much easier then having to venture out in pain. I can no longer do all the things that I could once do. When I Climb, stand and bend these are difficult task for me and most of the time impossible without extreme pain. There are also times when I feel trapped in my world because of my limitations. But I do know keeping busy is very important to my survival.

WORKER'S COMPENSATION
When you go to see an independent medical examiner always come prepared. Bring all recent medical reports from your doctor. Always be knowledgeable about your injury. Be prepared to answer questions. The independent medical examiners job is to get you back to work even if your unable to return to work. A degree of disability is always determined and you are paid accordingly. The degrees are mild, moderate and marked.

DID YOU KNOW # 1
Did you know that you may qualify for social services like food stamps, medicare and housing while on workers compensation. Also you may qualify for a one time emergency rent for a month from social services if your having problems paying rent. I found out that if while on workers compensation and you file for unemployment it might be consider that you can work.

TIME MANAGEMENT
I have learned to manage my time in order to deal with my pain. So I fill in my time with fun things like writing to blogs and managing my own blog. Listening to music and watching movies and searching the internet. Sometimes I am able to go swimming with my brother. Most other times I am going to doctors or to workers compensation hearings.

ATTITUDE MANAGEMENT
I have had to learned how to adjust my attitude. Realizing that my pain takes over me several times a day, I have learned that sometimes it pays not to say anything to anyone. Backing away from others when my pain is at it's peak has helped me save my relationships with friends and family. I try to keep a positive attitude daily, although at times it seems near impossible.

PAIN MANAGEMENT
I take pain pills daily to help manage my pain. Although it helps I try to take my pills once or twice a day. I have many sleepless nights at times I feel like I am losing my mind. My pain feels like a large needle going through my ankle I grit my teeth trying to bare the pain. I try to find ways to keep my mind off of the pain. Some times I blast my music I watch football go places you name it I have try it. But many times I can't find a way to avoid the pain that's when I become nasty, out spoken, rude, mean and not fun to be around. I work on these problems daily trying to figure ways ways to conquer my negative attitudes. Writing is another way I really enjoy writing.
